Scam warning

A job offer that asks you to pay first may be a scam, USCIS warns

USCIS warns that a job offer in the United States sent from overseas or by email may be a scam, especially if you are asked to pay money to receive the job offer.

What has not changed

USCIS says you are not allowed to work in the United States unless you have a Green Card, an EAD, or an employment-related visa that allows you to work for a particular employer.

What to do

If you see a job offer on social media, make sure the company is legitimate before sharing any of your personal information. If you are already in the United States on a student visa, talk with your designated school official before you take any job.
